WHY WE RECOMMEND AN INBODY SCAN

Your body is constantly changing and the scale doesn’t tell the full story. The InBody 580 reveals what those changes really mean by breaking down your muscle, fat, and water composition in detail. This allows you to see whether weight changes are due to fat loss, muscle gain, or water balance shifts.

Understanding your body composition helps uncover key insights about:

  • Identify your basal metabolic rate (BMR) and how efficiently your body burns calories.

  • Track lean muscle mass in each body segment to prevent imbalances and support performance goals.

  • Assess visceral fat levels, which are linked to metabolic and cardiovascular health.

  • Monitor intracellular and extracellular water ratios that can reflect inflammation, recovery, and stress on the body.

InBody FAQs

  • Most patients re-test every 6-8 weeks to measure meaningful changes and track progress.

  • Yes. The InBody 580 uses multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) to provide consistent and reproducible measurements without population averages or assumptions.

  • No. The InBody scan is completely non-invasive, quick, and safe.

  • Remove heavy layers, belts, socks, shoes, wallets and all jewelry before testing. Consistency between scans ensures accuracy.

  • Yes, but water retention may influence results. For consistency, test during the same phase each cycle.

  • Both tests measure body composition, but they do so in different ways. A DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) scan uses low-dose X-rays to analyze bone density, fat, and lean tissue distribution, making it a great tool for assessing bone health and total body composition with a clinical-grade precision. However, DEXA scans typically require a medical imaging facility, cost more, and involve radiation exposure.

The InBody 580, on the other hand, uses bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) to measure body composition without radiation. It’s quick, non-invasive, and ideal for routine wellness tracking. While DEXA may be preferred for specific medical evaluations, InBody provides an accessible and repeatable way to monitor progress in real time, guiding your fitness, nutrition, and wellness plan at 3:6 Wellness Clinic.
